I just finished and delivered this pet portrait, a commission that I received through River Gallery in Chelsea, Michigan. A kind father wanted me to create a painting of his daughter’s Pointer. The dog is aging and they wanted a special piece to remember him by. They had sent me some very good photographs, but I also went out to their home and spent and hour photographing Jasper in his own back yard. Although he has slowed down quite a bit, I caught him in an energetic moment, almost like he was tracking some quail. I know it is crazy, but I love painting pets and capturing their personalities!
This artwork was created with:
Paper: Terra Cotta Colourfix Pastel Paper
Medium: Rembrandt Pastels and Sennelier Pastels

Thanks, Jean! I get a lot of requests to teach, but I just have not gotten there yet. I am a bit selfish and after so many years of working at my ad agency 60 hours a week, I just want to paint! But maybe someday…
