Watercolor landscape painting of Portofino, Italy
Watercolor painting 10 inches x 8.5 inches SOLD
I just delivered this watercolor commission to a woman who asked me to create it as a birthday present for her best friend. They had recently visited Italy together and she wanted this watercolor landscape to commemorate their trip. THey both loved Portofino, a beautiful Mediterranean port on the east coast. I worked from a photo she provided but made composition changes and simplified the scene a bit. She was really happy with it. Now I can’t wait to hear what her friend thinks about her surprise art present!

Jill, your colors are very powerful and you
use them well. If I tried that many colors together,
all would be lost.
I like your very unique technique. Nicely done.

Hi Jill. “Portofino” is a beautiful painting and truely captures the real character and atmosphere of the old port. I visited Portofino at the end of May whilst walking the Cinque Terre and the Ligurian Alps. I returned home with many photographs of similar colourful villages which fill the bays and cling precariously to the cliffs along the north west Mediterranean coast between Genoa and La Spetzia. I would be very proud to own a work of this quality and I hope you receive many commissions as a result. Best wishes Roger

I am the lucky recipient of this gorgeous watercolor of Portofino. It was a beautiful birthday surprise from my best friend. The matting and framing are exquisite, as well (we’ll have to e-mail you a photo of the finished product). Thank you, Jill, for investing your time and talent in this wonderful present. I will always treasure it.

Michelle, I am so happy you like it! It was a joy to paint because I love Italy too!
