I was just interviewed by Peter Trippi, Editor of Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine, one of the best art collector magazines in the world! He was on an art tour of the area and of course, wanted to visit the River Gallery in Chelsea, Michigan. Peter chose a few artists from the gallery’s wonderful art makers–and I was one! 10 or so of my framed pieces were up and i brought along some of my new pastels of Italy which will be in my show in November. We discussed my work in detail and also the state of pastel painting in general. He’s a very interesting, informed and passionate advocate of the arts. I really enjoyed spending some time with him.
Peter also reviewed the work of Dan Barry and Elaine Wilson. I wish I would have thought to snap a photograph of all of us together. My mind was obviously not focused on photo ops…
No promises were made but we’ll be watching the magazine for possible mentions!

Around every corner in Tuscany, I found an interesting new scene to paint. The town we stayed in was built in the 1100s and it seemed that not much of the architecture had changed since then. As I worked on my watercolor paintings, I would think about the centuries of life that had happened on the streets of the small village of Barberino.
I’ve sold most of the paintings of Tuscany that I did on this trip but still have a few left. I’ll be painting many more Italian watercolors on my trip to Umbria.

Pienza is a beautiful Tuscan town that Mary Beth and I visited in our tour of the Chianti region of Italy. We both just adored this little jewel of a city. We wandered down a side street and into this small rustic cafe that felt like it could have been from the 18th century. Then we checked out the walls–they were full of photos of movie stars who had recently shot a movie in the area. I guess you really can’t get away from it ALL…
