Another winterscape from a while ago. This is a scene from the same park as the previous post.
Much as I love painting winter scenes, I just cannot paint them outdoors, en plein air. I keep reading about intrepid artists who don 5 layers of clothing, with hand warmers in their pockets, traipsing through the snow with all of their equipment to find the perfect view to paint. I want to do that. I really do. It sounds so dramatic and passionate. It seems like something a “real” artist would do. But I just can’t get past the fact that it will be really, really cold out there.
There. I’ve confessed. I feel much better.
In the winter, I paint in my studio and at class. We all do what we can.

Happy New Year! Stories about intrepid artists painting outside are, I’m sure, on a par with those by people who claim life is only sane if one runs several miles a day in all weathers – they make more noise than those who do what’s sensible.
Once again thanks for blogging so often, it makes my early am’s fun.

Thanks, Liz. I have finally gotten past the thought that I should do what the die-hards do, and just do what works for me!
