RIVERSTONES

Almost all artists love the "big-view", traditional landscape with sweeping hills and winding rivers
but sometimes I like to look more closely at the mini-landscapes that occur in nature.
Lately I've become fascinated with the stones that "populate" small streams and rivers.
Each grouping of rocks seem to have it own personality, its own message. They intrigue me
and I love to play with the zen-like abstractness of them. Wherever I travel,
I take scads of river photos from every possible direction. When I return to my studio,
I use them as inspiration points for another pastel in the RiverStones series.
